Last Sunday, January 26th, the fifth Monte Piselli Ski Race Alpine Ski Trophy took place in the location of Monte Piselli (between the provinces of Teramo and Ascoli), marking the opening race of the SKIALPDEIPARCHI 2025. This mountain location facing the Adriatic Sea is popular among enthusiasts from the city of Ascoli Piceno, offering breathtaking views of the Gran Sasso and Monti della Laga regions on the border with Abruzzo.

The mild yet windy day saw many enthusiasts, not only in ski mountaineering, flocking to the slopes. Dozens of snowshoers and trekkers were navigating the gentle terrain, cheering on the competing athletes along the enjoyable course set by the Montepiselli Ski Club, known for its excellent organization.

The FISI race, part of the Federation’s calendar under the Umbro-Marchigiana Committee, had twenty competitors at the starting line, with the START zone just below the TRE Caciare Refuge. The initial climb was captivating, first through the forest and then into the more technical section with turns on hard snow leading to the highest point in the area near the summit of Monte Girella (1800m).

The leading positions were quickly established, with the front pair Urbani and Silvagni skiing in unison, slightly ahead of the young Graziani. The technical descent through the VALLONDE DEL VESCOVO followed by a climb towards the EX SCIOVIA ski slope at Monte Piselli’s ski school field, determined the final positions except for the victory.

A short walking section (without crampons) preceded the final descent towards the finish line, where Urbani, taking some risks, finished seven seconds ahead of Silvagni, who closed in 1h 05m and 48s. Graziani followed with a time of 1h 09m and 32s, completing the male podium.

Among the women, the sole participant but equally competitive, Raffaella Tempesta claimed victory, finishing sixth overall with a time of 1h 19m and 29s.

The event concluded with a fantastic time, including a pasta party and award ceremony at COLLE SAN MARCO, the headquarters of the Marchigiano Ski Club!

SKIALDEPARCHI invites everyone to follow the online updates and join all enthusiasts, with or without a race bib, on February 9th for one of the classics in the Gran Sasso d’Italia region, the “Vallefredda Ski Raid,” now in its TENTH edition.
